Oil Change Coupon Review

Took my car too Calverts in St Charles Missouri on Mexico rd. for an oil change since I had a coupon. The coupon does not state this but they charge you an extra $3.50 for shop supplies. I hate bait and switch I'll never go back!

Went in for a oil change, now my engine light is on to a oil leak that i never had before taking in my car

Took in my car for a oil change, started noticing weeks later oil in my driveway,so I contacted Calverts told them the problem, they stated to bring the car back and they will take care of it,the workers comes out and says you have a oil leak didn't they tell u when u got oil leak I stated no,no one ever told me a thing,me knowing for a fact that I was not leaking any oil what so ever when I took the car in,so the worker stated that the guy that did my oil change may have done something wrong because he had come in to work and stated that he quit,so they said they sealed and topped off all the fluids,OK bout a week or so later my engine light comes on,I contacted them again and stated the issue, they said bring the car in I did just that, get there the lady at the counter said the wait will be long can I come back at 4:30pm,OK get back there at 4:30she said its still a long wait,I told her I needed to speak to a manager,I can't keep diving around wit my 1 year old son in the car and not know the problem,OK shop manager comes out I explained to him what's goin on,he tells me the engine light coming on has nut in to do with the oil leak, but I can get it put on the machine for $69,so I stated/why would I pay for that when clearly I had no issues til they worked on my car and not only that the car was still leaking oil after they told me it was fixed. So my mom and I ended up taking it to First one, they stated that the issue with the engine light coming on was due to oil over everything from the motor to the engine to the belts,so I give Calverts a call let them know what's goin on and I needed all the paperwork from me bringing in the car,the lady on the phone stated she was goin to look it up then give me a call back,so I received a call back from a man named Johnny,he stated that he had contacted his district manager and said that under warranty I can bring the car back and they will take a look at it,so I'm try a figure out I been calling the corporate office and no response and you get in contact in 5min,but I stated to him I was not giving that offer when I brung the car in all those times,he then said if Firestone fixes on the car then they are no longer lieable for the car unless they can look and see what the issue is,I been there 4 times and nothing has been done, then he tells me whatever Firestone says its word of mouth,I explained to him why would I come back for a 5th time whn nothing was done the first 4 times, would u keep goin back to the same place if u kept having issues,he stated no,so ok,why would i bring my car back to you,I kinda got a I really don't care attitude from him so it was best that we ended the conversation,I just stated that I will contacting corporate again and I'll just take from there all he said was we here all day if you decide to come,if the car needs to be tolled there then they would,I told him no I'm going to leave it at Firestone,Calverts in Raytown Mo on 350 Hwy is the worst experience ever, now its goin to cost $800 to fix a problem they created, and they will be held responsible

Very nice article, keep providing more and improve with the content. Normally people aren’t aware about such techniques.

I always thought about finding something different and yet here I got one.

I had a very similar issue. I went in for an oil change and 3 days later the engine light came on.

Shortly after that my car wouldn't start! I had it towed back to calverts(kcmo) and they eventually told me "we owe you an engine" (their exact words). So basically all the oil had leaked out which caused damage to the engine. I ended up renting a car for over a week due to their mistake and now I'm working on getting reimbursed for that.

I was told to contact the corporate office. I called day after day only to keep getting the run around! I called earlier and told the receptionist either the district manager needs to return my call or I'll have a lawyer get in touch with him.

She immediately became helpful so hopefully this gets resolved soon. Needless to say I won't be having my car serviced by them again!

NEVER AGAIN!

I went to Calvert's Express because they are always putting their ads in my paper so it was convenient and close to my work. The manager has an attitude on the phone to begin with. I went to have my brakes done and paid 252.00 for 1 year brake pads and rotors. I started noticing squealing when I would stop so I took my car back in and they said because Ford recommended ceramic brake pads and they used a different kind, that I would have to deal with the screeching. I said, so I can buy brake pads over the counter from any auto parts store and have them put on by any regular person and my brakes have never screeched; not ever, but i pay you all 252.00 and my brakes screech. He said because I didn't pay 80.00. so i said because I didn't pay more money, you all put substandard parts on my car? He said he gave me a choice. I hate this place and will never go back to this horrible place. They are a joke and a rip off and I am NOT a business. I'm just a regular single, working mom trying to keep my car running right.

semi metallic is the worst.

go for ceramics for sure. But do you actually remember him giving u these options or what did he tell you?

Bait and Switch Price-Gouging

I received a coupon for a "tune up" for $59.95. This is for sparkplugs only; screw out the old ones, screw in the new ones. Nothing special. They told me that the plugs they would use for the coupon price would not work and that I had to have some super-premium plugs at triple the price. Not only that, they would have to replace the wires and the entire job would run me about $230. I don't remember the exact amount, but this is within a few dollars. The guy told me that the super-premium titanium plugs were required. He talked very fast and had a "pat" answer to my probing questions about the high prices. I felt like he was treating me like an ***. I went down the street and bought factory recommended plugs for 1/3 the price Calvert's demanded. I also got a new set of recommended wires. The total price for these two items was $36.93. This place likes to bully people and take advantage of them; and this isn't the first time I've experienced their price-gouging. Today, I can un-screw and in-screw a few plugs myself.

Poor Work - Poor Cust Service

Calverts Express Auto Service And Tire - Poor Work - Poor Cust Service

Don't go there ever, On Dec 24, I took my car to this location, a guy named Tim removed (2) pulley’s that was supposed to be what was making the squeaking noise, that wasn’t it, and I wasn't charged. However, Tim, didn't re-install the belt correctly and it came off.

I had my 96 yr. old mother in the car that night going to Mo Baptist hospital to be with a family member who was gravely ill, I had to have the car towed to Firestone where the replaced the belt which was new.

That Monday, I called the owner and explained the situitonation, he stated, he would get back with me, he never did, I called back after new year’s, he stated that since they never charged me there was no money to pay back. I told him I just spent $325 at the Lindbergh store in November and he could give me oil changes to make up.

He never called back. DONT GO TO THESE PEOPLE. the front desk lady stated after Tim couldn’t fix the car, I should come back when the real mechanics come in on Monday. NOT..

Because the small claims courts here are a joke. I want bother with that. I'm going to wage a campaign and tell all my friends and all of the black churches. When people come in my neighborhood with a business and treat me like *** I sounding off.

After reading reviews on this company it’s not the first but a habit.

Never Go to Calverts Auto Express!!!

On 07/06/12 I went into Calvert's auto express seeking repair service for my vehicle. I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist named Lynn or Linda.

I asked her for an estimated price on the repair for a starter for my vehicle. I asked this because the same day my car would not start and I had to call a tow truck out to have it towed. The tow truck driver told me it was my starter that was bad, he figured this out when he tried to start the car heard the clicking noise it was making and used a wrench and a hammer to get the car started, I was still skeptical that this was the issue with my car cause what would a grimey tow trucker know (I am a female I did not know better), so before I approved Calvert's to replace my starter I asked the receptionist if there was a way to check the starter she then asked what the car was doing, I told her, and she was unsure of the price to check the starter so she had to seek out one of the mechanics for a price. They then came up with the amount of $39.99.

I gave them the ok to check my starter and if that was the problem to go ahead and replace it at the quoted price of $340. I received a call from Shawn about a hour later. He stated it was not my starter, but it was my battery that was bad and it would be $120 to replace it. I gave the ok for the repair, well 4 days later my car stopped again, I called calverts immediately and told them my car had stopped and that I suspected they were wrong that my battery was not bad and that my started did need to be replaced, I was told by Shawn that " If its bad its bad if its good its good" I hung up on him and did not respond to that.

I waited for another tow. When the tow truck man arrived I told him only that my car would not start (I wanted to see what he would say as this was a completely different tow truck driver from the last guy that came out). He tried to start the car it would not turn over, after a couple of tries it started right up, he also told me it was my starter. I drove back to Calvert's and spoke with the receptionist told her what happened she then went and got Shawn who told me " He could not check my starter and tell me if it was good or bad unless it was acting up for him, and I told you that" I became angry because he never told me that.

The only time I spoke to him was when he told me what was wrong with my car and when it was ready to be picked up everything else was done through the receptionist. We went back and forth about them charging me for the battery when it was my starter that needed to be replaced and all he could say was "my car cannot run without a battery", but I drove it to the shop not once but twice. I gave up on trying to reason with him, my husband (yes he was there and witnessed everything but was silent ) asked them the price for the repair they quoted me $350 I then told Shawn no to the repair, I would never spend another dime @ Calvert's and that I was taking my car somewhere else. Shawn then said to me " take it somewhere else I don't care, and you have a good day" I got in my car that thankfully started called around and got a price for a starter repair at Firestone of $279.00.

So not only was Calverts over charging me they are rude and do not care about you unless you are spending money with them.

My husband sent me there because he is a tow truck driver also and recommends many customers. Never again!

DO NOT USE THIS SHOP! One recently opened in Belton, MO.

I was in town that day, so I stopped by to get my oil changed. After the car was on the lift, they called me into the shop. I should have been watching through the glass window, but was doing Sudoku instead! The mechanic pointed to an area around my timing cover, said I had an oil leak and the timing cover needed to be resealed for over $700.

It didn't look right--there wasn't a leak, just a smooth, oily sheen over an area of approx. one foot by one foot. I told them my oil wasn't low, my oil light hadn't come on, my check engine light hadn't come on, and there wasn't any oil spot where I park my car at home. I couldn't see anything actually dripping.

They told me none of that really mattered. They then said they would knock off $200 if I went ahead and got it done that day. After that was said, my scam meter hit the red zone. Left and went to our usual mechanic in another town AND THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG.

This was a 2010 Ford Escape. A reliable car that Consumer Reports recommends. I searched online extensively, and couldn't find any reports of having to reseal the timing cover. I asked for synthetic oil on the oil change, and am now wondering if they scammed me on that, too.

I'll check that out. Went by the next day to discuss this attempted rip off with the manager. His response was pathetic. Two sentences said over and over--"He showed you the leak" and "come into the shop and I'll show you that we have synthetic oil".

Really? Really!?

Calverts Auto Service

I had my 2002 Accord towed in because it couldn't start. Calverts said I needed a new coil. Plus I would need a new distributor, points and wires. Said it would cost $1300. "The coil is very expensive." Because I didn't have time to shop around, I said ok. I later called the local Honda dealer and described the problem. He said he could replace the coil for $350. I later took the itemized bill to Honda and they said they could have done the whole job for $900. Said I was ripped off and probably had unnecessary work done. Calverts are the biggest ***. They see someone in a bind and they screw them.
